Board Director
Oscar serves as Veterans and Diversity Manager at Facebook (Infrastructure). He is responsible for building and maintaining a targeted acquisition program that focuses on hiring highly qualified military Veterans and creating innovative pipelines for diverse candidates. His focus is establishing relationships and partnerships while ensuring high touch interactions with local government, the military community, and organizations that support them.
Prior to Facebook, Oscar served at the Federal Communications Commission as Communications Operations Specialist assigned to the Public Safety & Homeland Security Bureau and worked directly with the Deputy Bureau Chief. He worked on public safety, homeland security, emergency management, cybersecurity, and disaster preparedness activities.
In addition, Oscar served in the U.S. Navy (1992-2016), retiring as Chief of the Boat on USS JOHN WARNER (SSN 785). While on the WARNER, and according to the Navy’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Oscar was one of only seven black Chiefs of the Boat in the history of the Navy. In his Naval career, he served on three fleet ballistic missile and four fast attack submarines. Oscar is a 2012 graduate of the Naval Senior Enlisted Academy.
Oscar resides in Manassas, Virginia with his wife Emmaka Porchea-Veneszee, also a Navy Veteran.
